Understanding the Industrial Manufacturing Sector

Hello! My name is Cindy and I am here to tell you all about the industrial manufacturing sector. I am by no means an expert in this area. However, since my husband started working in the sector, I had picked up a lot of useful knowledge which I would like to share here. You probably rely on the industrial and manufacturing sector much more than you first realise. Every day you will use products which have been manufactured in an industrial plant and so it can't hurt to understand a little more about where they come from. I hope you like my blog!

How to Prolong the Durability of Your New Petrol Generator

Petrol generators have been around for the longest time, even before the introduction of their diesel counterparts. These generators allow you to achieve efficient and reliable power generation at low costs. One advantage of using petrol generators is that petrol is cheaper to use than diesel. So whether you are looking for a generator to power your tools or for backup electricity, this is your best option. However, just like any other equipment, a petrol generator requires proper maintenance to achieve full efficiency and last longer. In this light, here are a few tips on how to care for your generator.

Change oil regularly

Unlike a car, a generator requires regular oil changes to keep running correctly. Therefore, don't be shocked if yours seizes up after just a few days of continuous running. It probably has little or no oil at all. Therefore, if you bought a new generator, you may need to perform an oil change after the first few hours of continuous use. All generators come with a manufacturer's manual that specifies the appropriate oil change intervals. Follow this manual to keep it in excellent condition. Therefore, consider keeping extra oil on hand, especially if you will be using the generator for an extended period.

Clean the air filter

Your generator's engine needs to breathe so that it can ignite the fuel properly and meet your power generation needs. However, after prolonged use or exposure to dust, the air filter gets clogged with debris, and this can hinder the functioning of the engine. When this happens, the engine may fail to start, or it may be inefficient. Avoid this by regularly cleaning the air filter to get rid of trapped dust and debris. Also, after continuous use, check the air filter for wear. If it is worn, you should replace it with a new one to maximize the efficiency and durability of the equipment.

Run an unused generator

If you only use your new generator occasionally, you have to keep it in storage until the next application. When stored, the engine won't be running, and this means that the parts will not have lubrication either. This can encourage corrosion which will cause premature wear to the internal components. To avoid this, you should run a stored generator at least once a month. Start it and let it run for a few minutes so that the oil can lubricate the internal parts. Doing this will prolong the lifespan of the equipment.

Follow these tips to maintain your new generator and extend its durability. Also, consult an expert if you need to replace faulty or damaged components.
